Anchoring the Future of Local Manufacturing | SEG Solar Speaks at 2025 PV ModuleTech Conference USA
Napa, California – June 17–18, 2025 – The 2025 PV ModuleTech Conference USA was successfully held in Napa, California, focusing on the ongoing localization of solar module manufacturing and the restructuring of the U.S. supply chain. The event brought together industry leaders and investors to discuss core topics such as product quality, technology pathways, and supply chain traceability.
SEG Solar ( “SEG”) was invited to attend the conference, with CEO Jim Wood serving as a featured speaker. During his keynote, he shared insights into SEG’s key strategies for localization in the U.S. market and its long-term growth vision.
The conference took place amid a volatile policy environment. Since April 2025, the U.S. government has imposed steep tariff increases on solar modules imported from Southeast Asia. While these policies have created new opportunities for domestic manufacturers, they have also added immense pressure on the global supply chain. Against this backdrop, building a stable and sustainable local manufacturing ecosystem has become a focal point for stakeholders across the industry.
Jim Wood stated in his speech:"We see clear opportunities brought about by current U.S. policies to support domestic manufacturing. However, policy volatility also introduces risk. That’s why SEG is doubling down on building a robust, end-to-end manufacturing chain in the U.S.—from R&D to production and delivery."
SEG’s 2GW high-efficiency N-type module factory in Texas has now reached full production capacity. The company has also formed strategic partnerships with local players such as Talon PV and SunModo to establish a highly localized and resilient supply chain. This closed-loop system enhances SEG’s agility in the face of policy changes while offering customers greater supply traceability and assurance.
SEG’s long-term commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing has earned strong support from both policy and capital markets. In June 2025, the company successfully completed its first advanced manufacturing production tax credit transaction under Section 45X of the Internal Revenue Code. The transaction was valued at $50 million, providing substantial cash flow and further strengthening SEG’s financial foundation for domestic manufacturing expansion.
In addition to its U.S. efforts, SEG is accelerating global capacity deployment to mitigate potential policy-related risks. The company’s smart solar cell manufacturing facility in Indonesia broke ground in September 2024 and achieved full-process production by April 2025—just seven months later. The facility is designed with an annual capacity of 5GW and will gradually integrate ingot, wafer, cell, and module production into a vertically integrated line. It is poised to become one of the leading solar manufacturing bases in Southeast Asia, enhancing SEG’s global responsiveness and cost competitiveness.
Today, SEG is rapidly advancing across all stages of production, supply, and delivery in the U.S., while simultaneously building a comprehensive global manufacturing system. Looking ahead, SEG remains committed to a dual strategy of “deepening local roots and expanding global reach,” supporting the solar industry’s transition into a more secure, efficient, and sustainable future.
